Q: Where are you from?
A: "My parents are both from Ecuador and I was born and raised in New York city. Grew up in Yonkers for most of my life.
Q: Who or what was the biggest influence for getting you into DJ'ing?
A: "I think the most notable influence is my father. He was the drummer for Los Estrellas (A Latin Jazz band from the 70's and 80’s). His support and encouragement for me to follow my heart sent me off.
The radio was always on in my house, so I got to listen to a lot of different types of music. From Bob Marley, El Gran Combo, Earth Wind and Fire, Hall and Oates, Doobie Brothers, Michael Jackson, New Edition, the list goes on.
Grandmaster Flash was my idol and I remember watching Dr. Dre on Yo MTV Raps!" thinking, I want to do that!"
Q: How long have you been Dj'ing for?
A: "I got my first set of turntables when I was 12yrs old, so...about 30 plus years. It started as a hobby, but I've never stopped and have been doing it ever since".
Q: Where have you DJ'd?
A: "I started in the Meat Packing district, NYC in the early 2000's. I've played thourout the city. I've also performed throughout the U.S., Caribean islands, and Europe".
Q: What is your genre music of choice?
A: "That's a tough one. I get asked that a lot, but to be honest, I can never just choose one. I like playing it all, my roots started with Latin, Soul, Disco and the 80's mainstream., I go from House to R&B, Hip Hop, Rock or Latin, if it moves me and the crowd, it's getting played. Thats the beauty of music, it can come from anywhere and move anybody".
Q: What do you focus on when you DJ?
A: "My focus is on the crowd, they create the energy and I reflect it". The vibe, selection, and creativity play a major part as well."
